Common questions
Do I need a separate license for Desk?
No. Your $99 Pontius license includes both Desk and the CLI. One purchase, both tools, all your devices.
Can I use Desk without the CLI (or vice versa)?
Absolutely. Some people will live entirely in Desk and never touch the CLI. Others will use the CLI exclusively. Most will use both — Desk for everyday reading and replying, CLI when they want AI to handle the pile. Use whichever fits the moment.
Does Desk do AI things too?
On purpose, no. Desk is the calm human side. We deliberately kept AI features out of Desk so it stays a proper email app — fast, distraction-free, no buttons begging to write your emails. When you want AI, the CLI is right there.
Is my email private?
Yes. Desk connects directly to your email provider over standard IMAP/SMTP. We never see your messages. Your passwords sit in your OS keychain (Mac Keychain, Windows Credential Manager). Nothing routed through our servers — because we don't have any.
Which email providers are supported?
Gmail, iCloud, Outlook, Fastmail, Yahoo, Zoho, and any custom IMAP/SMTP server. If your provider supports standard email protocols, Desk works.
What about Linux?
The Pontius CLI runs perfectly on Linux today. A Linux desktop app is on the roadmap but not yet available.
