We built Pontius for our own inboxes first. We take privacy seriously because it's our privacy too.

The only thing we store is your email address linked to your license key.
What we collect
Email address
When you purchase a license, we store your email to associate it with your license key. That's how we verify activations.
Payment info
Handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
That's it. That's the list.
What we don't collect
Your emails
Pontius runs on your computer. Emails go directly between your machine and your email provider via IMAP/SMTP. We never see them.
Your credentials
Passwords stored in your OS keychain (macOS Keychain, Windows Credential Manager). Never sent to us or any AI service.
Usage data
No analytics, no telemetry, no phone-home. We don't track how you use Pontius.
AI conversations
What you discuss with your AI stays between you and that AI provider. We're not in the middle.
Technical details
How Pontius works
Pontius is a local application. When you run it, it connects directly to your email provider using standard IMAP and SMTP protocols. Your AI assistant (Claude Code, Gemini, etc.) runs Pontius commands in your terminal. The AI sees the command output, but we don't.
Your configuration, knowledge base, contacts, and drafts are stored locally in your home directory (~/.config/pontius/). We have no access to these files.
If you use cross-device sync, your data is encrypted with AES-256 before it leaves your machine. The encryption key never leaves your device.
Third parties
Services we connect to
Stripe
Processes payments. Their privacy policy applies to payment data. We never see your card.
Your email provider
Gmail, Outlook, Fastmail, etc. Your emails are subject to their privacy policies.
Your AI provider
Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, or local models. What you share with them is governed by their policies.
We don't share your email address with anyone except as required to process your purchase (Stripe) or comply with law.

We keep your email-to-license association indefinitely so your license keeps working. If you want us to delete it, email us and we will — though this will invalidate your license.
