The Stabilizers Method

Start with training wheels, end with autopilot. You control the pace.

The Problem with AI Email

Most AI email tools fail for one of two reasons:

  • Too autonomous: The AI sends emails without understanding your tone, relationships, or context. Customers get weird responses.
  • Too restricted: The AI can only draft, never send. You spend as much time reviewing AI drafts as writing the emails yourself.

The Stabilizers Method

Think of it like learning to ride a bike. You start with training wheels (stabilizers), then remove them as you build confidence. Same with your AI email assistant.

The Three Phases

1
Stabilizers On

AI asks before acting. You approve everything. Knowledge base grows with every session.

2
Growing Confidence

You see the AI using your knowledge base. Sessions get faster. Trust builds.

3
Stabilizers Off

AI handles routine emails autonomously. You focus on what matters.

How It Works

When you run pontius blitz, the AI asks which mode you want:

Stabilizers on (learning) or auto (autonomous)?

That's it. The AI knows what each mode means. In stabilizers mode, it asks before sending anything. In auto mode, it handles routine emails and only asks about genuinely new situations.

Why It Works

Progressive Trust

You wouldn't hand your car keys to a stranger. Same with your inbox. The Stabilizers Method builds trust incrementally:

  • AI proves it understands your patterns before you give it more autonomy
  • Mistakes happen in review, not in production
  • You always know what the AI is doing and why

Knowledge Accumulation

Unlike one-shot AI tools, Pontius learns and remembers:

  • Contacts — Who they are, how to talk to them
  • Templates — Your proven responses to common situations
  • Rules — Per-account behaviors and defaults
  • Patterns — "When X happens, do Y"

The AI updates the knowledge base after every session. Each session makes the next one better.

Human in the Loop (When Needed)

Even with stabilizers off, certain situations always require your input:

  • Anything involving money (refunds, payments, invoices)
  • New relationships or unfamiliar contacts
  • Situations where the AI is uncertain
  • Emotionally charged emails

Getting Started

Just say "let's clear email" to your AI. It runs pontius blitz, asks which mode you want, and starts working. The three phases aren't settings you configure—they're a natural progression as you build trust.

No Rush
There's no pressure to reach Phase 3. Many users prefer staying in Phase 1 or 2 permanently, especially for important business accounts. The goal is to find your comfort level, not to maximize AI autonomy.
